Sunday, January 28th, 2018 ~ 3rd Sunday After Epiphany
As followers of Jesus we live according to his teachings and so we pay attention to the hurting and listen to them and give them space to cry out. For Christians Jesus is the ultimate authority in all matters.
God chose Jonah to go to Nineveh to call that ancient city into repentance. And here’s where the Jonah Principle comes into play. God has placed His finger on you, you can run but you cannot hide. God will pursue and never give up on us.

In the Old Testament God often spoke through dreams and visions. Dreams and visions are those “thin places” where heaven and earth touch, where the Eternal and the Temporal become tangent.
Theologians have debated for centuries about why Jesus was baptized by John in the Jordan River. After all, if John’s baptism was for the forgiveness of sin, why was Jesus baptized? Did he need his sins to be washed away?

“You are the light of the world,” Jesus told those who would take him seriously. “One doesn’t light a lantern and hid it under a basket. No, let you light so shine before others that they give glory to your Father in heaven.”

Jesus Christ is the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. We remember his names because he is the light shining in darkness of our world. He is the light which has brought hope, faith, joy and peace to us.
Sunday, December 17th, 2017 – 3rd Sunday of Advent
As a follower of Christ, the prophet Isaiah has made our life’s work clear and for how long we are to do it, our entire lives. We are to bring the good news of the gospel to people in our community and around the world always. We are to bind up the broken-hearted, caring for and lifting up people have bullied, mocked, and pushed around always. We are to proclaim freedom in Christ to those who are captives always. We are to comfort those who mourn always. As we fulfill our God given responsibilities we don’t do so alone. In our baptism we have been set aside as daughters and sons of God and have been given the Holy Spirit. By the power of the Holy Spirit, who is always present with us, we bring restoration to communities devastated by suffering of any kind. We bring restoration to our communities and we allow others to help restore us when we are suffering. That is who we are. That is our life’s work.
Remember, it is God who brought order out of Chaos and threw Light into the dark of Creation before any of the luminaries were planted in the heavens. In a time such as this, Jesus told those who would take him seriously to “keep alert” and “keep awake” for the God moments that lie in your path.
